Make a Difference Within Our Community

Currently, the Mississaugas of Scugog Island First Nation (MSIFN) is looking for an experienced Community Care Driver Administrator to join our Health and Resources Team in Scugog, ON on a full-time basis. The work week is 21 hours.

The Community Care Driver Administrator (CCDA) provides transportation services for eligible members and community members of MSIFN and who do not have access to reliable transportation to medical and other appointments as defined in the program policy, in and around the GTA. Reporting to the Health and Social Services Manager, the driver will provide safe, courteous, and confidential driving services for eligible members and community members of MSIFN.

 

KEY ACTIVITIES:

  • Maintaining a safe and confidential service for members and community members utilizing the service
  • Assist clients from door of home to door of the facility
  • Signing clients out of post-medical procedures that require them to have a responsible person available to drive in order to leave the facility
  • Maintain vehicle logs per MSIFN Policy
  • Prepare incident reports that document; confrontations with clients, infractions, injuries that may be sustained by clients or staff while providing service, and vehicle damage
  • All travel requests will be accommodated and scheduled accordingly based on demand of service
  • Schedule and coordinate transport services for clients attending medical and other eligible appointments
  • Manage daily driver rosters and respond to scheduling changes or emergencies
  • Liaise with clients, families, drivers and care staff to ensure transportation needs are met effectively and sensitively
  • Ensure all vehicles used are roadworthy, serviced and meet health and safety standards by working with MSIFN appropriate staff
  • Monitor driver compliance with organizational policies and procedures
  • Ensure all relevant administrative duties are completed, including data entry, filing, report generation and maintaining client transport records
  • Promote a person-centered, respectful, and inclusive approach to community transport service

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Grade 12
  • Possess Class G License for minimum of 5 years
  • 1-year experience transporting people preferred

SPECIALIZATIOS REQUIRED              

  • Valid driver’s license and $1M liability insurance
  • CPIC acceptable to position upon conditional offer
  • Knowledge and understanding of Indigenous culture, traditions, teachings, community dynamics
  • Great communication, listening, and interpersonal skills
  • Good conflict resolution skills
  • Demonstrating the ability to understand the importance of confidentiality and the ability to work with tact and discretion
  • Willing to take various driving programs to improve skills and safe operation of motor vehicle
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Ability to work independently
  • Understanding of confidentiality and safeguarding procedures

CONSIDERED AN ASSET

  • Advanced Driving Certificate
  • Current CPR and First Aid
  • Class F License
  • Experience working with elderly (e.g. Personal Support Worker designation)
  • Knowledge of local geography and community services
